Improved animal welfare: HANNA-Feinkost supports the European Chicken Commitment
HANNA-Feinkost strengthens its commitment to animal welfare by joining the European Chicken Commitment. The Delbrück-based chicken specialist aims to demonstrate its premium standards in terms of animal welfare. Sustainability and the responsible use of resources and the environment are key to the frozen chicken specialist at its factory located in East Westphalia.
The European Chicken Commitment represents a commitment to improved animal welfare founded by the Albert Schweizer Foundation with 29 European animal rights groups. The initiative calls for improvements to the welfare conditions of chickens that are fattened and slaughtered throughout Europe. Its criteria are considerably more stringent than the minimum legal requirements, including more space to move around, animal-friendly sheds and slower fattening. Companies throughout Europe will be required to implement these criteria in full by 2026 at the latest.
Partners for improved animal welfare
According to CEO Andreas Biermann, HANNA’s commitment to the initiative aligns with the company values and quality promise. “Sustainability and the responsible use of resources and the environment are our top priorities. This commitment represents a clear statement and will continue to help improve our quality standards. If the initiative proves to be a success, we look forward to doing our bit to contribute to improved animal welfare.”
Sustainability starts with the raw materials
HANNA has supplied a wide range of frozen chicken specialities with strict quality standards to gastronomy, bulk consumer and home service customers for 50 years! The Westphalian family firm ensure that sustainability starts with the raw materials. HANNA products are only made with certified and controlled raw materials from sustainable and welfare-friendly farms.
In addition to guaranteed origins, the HANNA quality promise guarantees that ingredients that require declaration, flavour enhancers and artificial flavouring will not be found in any HANNA products.
“Consumers are increasingly concerned with food quality, particularly with meat,” claims Andreas Biermann. Animal welfare will continue to gain importance as a key element of the buying decision in the future, with consumers willing to pay more for quality. HANNA now offers customer-specific products featuring this quality alongside its standard product range.
